We started our journey into kayak fishing kind of by accident, we had always loved fishing whether it be from family boats on the West Coast of Vancouver Island Canada, or fishing from the shores of our local rivers and lakes.  We finally decided that it was time for us to get our own boat, so we started searching the internet for a boat that would suit our needs, one day while researching boats on YouTube, we came across a video of someone fishing for Marlin…from a KAYAK!  Instantly we both had goosebumps watching such a massive fish being reeled in from such a tiny boat.

Instantly our focus switched from trying to find a boat, to finding out more about this incredible way of fishing, it only took watching a couple more YouTube videos for us to be hooked, this is the type of fishing we needed to do!  So we went all in and bought a pair of pedal driven fishing kayaks, and started customizing them to suit our needs on the ocean.

Creating content around kayak fishing didn’t happen until after our first season of fishing, after searching YouTube high and low and only coming up with a few channels that showcase a husband and wife team of anglers.  That and we noticed how much attention we were getting when going to and from the water with our kayaks and all our gear, people were shocked that we were going out fishing for Salmon, Lingcod, Rockfish, and Halibut in kayaks.  We would spend hours on the beaches of Vancouver Island just talking to people about our setups and our love for this incredible sport, so once again we were back on the internet trying to figure out the best way to film our adventures for our very own YouTube Channel, and a couple of months later KC Kayak Fishing was born!  Our goal through creating content is to help share our love of this incredible sport with the world, and show people you don’t need to spend a fortune to be able to get out on the water and start chasing all of the species of fish that our waters have to offer!
